When the Barbers Point Air Museum closed, the fate of its collection was uncertain. Thanks to some help from Hawaiian Airlines and shipping company Pasha Hawaii stepped in and agreed to help send some warbirds to the museum at Castle AFB in California. Mechanics from Hawaiian Airlines will dismantle the aircraft and pack them into shipping containers, which will be carried across the Pacific on one of Pasha Hawaii's ro-ros.
Castle AFB's museum will be getting a AH-1 Cobra, SH-60 Seahawk, as well as a CH-53D Sea Stallion,UH-3H Sea King, and an A-4 Skyhawk attack jet.
Pasha Hawaii owns and operates several ro-ros, which sail between the mainland and Hawaii every few weeks, carrying cars, boats, heavy equipment, and if you believe what's painted on the side of the ship, a helicopter or 2.
