If I’m not mistaken these are D-601 till D-606info@helispot.be wrote: ↑27 Dec 2021, 12:37 In the fleet of the 20 Chinooks CH-47F MYII CAAS helicopters we'll have 6 Chinook CH-47F that have been upgraded to MYII CAAS. Their 'old' registrations are D-890 till D-895.
Do we know the new registrations for these old ones? As 16 new Chinooks have already been delivered we should have already received 'rebuilded' CH-47F in their new version.
Any idea?
A bit more than just the powertrains, I believe. Of each old grey CH-47F, some 2,500 parts are re-used in a new CH-47F in the 60x series. D-601 to D-606 are the 'rebuilds' indeed.
Seems not possible to me, as all MY CAAS are new airframes. Unless someone hold track of every part being reused in which airframe...
Political indeed.. the equivalent of special price for youCanberra TT.18 wrote: ↑29 Dec 2021, 19:13 I think your right.
Thing is that rebuild/reuse is (a bit) cheaper then fully new builds.
Also I think it's a political thing. The old Fs where only 6 or 7 years old so updating sounds better then replacing.
Eg. the AH!-64E are political sold as update of the D frames. But you could also say they are new with some old parts.
If you say you buy new Es this also gets discussion if we need (new) attack helicopters or should by a other type!
Agree. Although it might be safe to assume that D-601 & 602 were built using parts retrieved from D-890 & 892. Both were sent to Boeing in the spring of 2019. D-601 & 602 emerged from the factory in late 2020/early 2021.
