Afghan Helicopters at AMARG

Post by Borispole »

Afghan helicopters noted from an overflight in and around the arrivals ramp on 28Dec'21 were as follows:

Mi-8: 510

Mi-17: 703, 716, 735, 739, 754, 760

H369: 219, 297, 332

There are a line of 9 H369 on pallets with their serials covered by covers plus a 10th covered in blue plastic wrap. 4 other H369s are covered in white plastic wrap.

Answers on a postcard for the remaining serials......

So the Americans managed to get quite a few out of the country in the chaos, not bad.

I think most of them were defected to Tajikistan or Uzbekistan by Afghan pilots, or were under maintenance abroad during Taliban takeover.

On a sideboard, one H369 flown by Taliban crashed yesterday in Afghanistan
flown in: Things with wings
