Pilot Ejects After F-35 Lightning II ‘Landing Mishap’ on USS Carl Vinson in South China Sea
January 24, 2022 2:56 PM
An F-35C Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter had a “landing mishap” on the deck of USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) on Monday in the South China Sea, the Navy announced.
The F-35C Lightning II, which is assigned to Carrier Air Wing 2, was conducting routine flight operations in the South China Sea when the mishap occurred. The plane’s pilot “safely ejected” and is in stable condition, according to a Navy release.
Seven sailors were injured, with three sent to a medical facility in Manila, Philippines. Those three sailors are now in stable condition. Four sailors were treated aboard Carl Vinson and three of them have been released.

A little bit more informations here : https://news.usni.org/2022/01/25/crashe ... -china-sea
The F-35 C sank into the sea following those news.
At first sight, it doesn't sound like an arrestor wire or tail hook issue ("impact on the flight deck").
Let's wait for some sailor to release the video...

I thought that applied to the B model, not the C.

It seems that the Americans are worried the Chinese may come to pick up the wreckage before they can....

It would be surprising if the lined-up F/A-18s on the right were unscathered, regarding the flying debris.

Indeed
Or a surprise they are not hit at all by the Lightning skidding over the entire deck.

Some of the deck crew got injured, so it's very likely that the nearby jets were hit as well.
