'Top Gun: Maverick' release date pushed to summer 2021

Those feeling the need for speed are going to have to wait until next summer to see "Top Gun: Maverick."

The sequel to the hit 1986 film,
"Top Gun" starring Tom Cruise was supposed to hit theaters in December 2020.

Paramount announced on Thursday that the film will now premiere July 2, 2021.

Top Gun: Maverick has been delayed once again,
this time being pushed six months from its planned release date of November 19, 2021, to May 2022.

Top Gun: Maverick was initially meant to release on July 12, 2019.

After the start of the coronavirus pandemic, that date was pushed to June 26, 2020,
then to December 23, 2022, July 2, 2021, and eventually to November 19, 2021.

Now that the November date has also been pushed, the movie won’t be arriving
until nearly three years after it was originally intended to premiere.

And there’s still no guarantee that May 27, 2022, will be the actual release date,
as the movie could, of course, get delayed once again in the coming months.

Judging by the trailer, I'm afraid that this will be a disappointment that will even dwarf the final Star Wars episode. Will watch it though...
