Tucson IAP 23-25 March 2022 Mil

Post by Coen Pasterkamp »

Some photos from Tucson International Airport from 23 to 25 March 2022. The photos were taken from spot 4 in the airfield guide. The power cabinet, where you can stand on, is still there. Flying activity was good in the morning: 20+ F-16's.
There are a lot of civil aircraft parked on the apron in front of runway 11/29. They are temporarily out of service because of the COVID-19 pandemic, I assume. So the view on runway 11/29 is limited but it is still possible to take pictures.
Some ANG/AFRC F-16's with other tailcodes were present. I only saw one AC, CO, DC, FM and WI F-16.
Unfortunately the background with sunshades is terrible.

Awesome pics! And to be honest, I don’t mind the sunshades in the background, it just says “Tucson” to me.

Nice set indeed. Out of curiousity: why were all the other (non-based) Vipers there?

Regular AATC mission is to share knowledge to ANG AFRC units. Each ANG/AFRC F-16 unit sends one plane with an instructor pilot from that unit for a certain period.

OK, interesting. And not just random then, but all at the same time. Good timing by Coen ;-)

Interesting set! Especially that Colorado Viper is interesting, sporting the Vermont Air Guard name "Green Mountain Boys" still.
