Zagreb-Pleso spotter's pass?

Hi,

In one of the older posts on this forum I have read something about a spotter's pass that is needed/recommended if you plan to hang around Zagreb-Pleso. Does any of you know if this indeed the case and if so, where you can get one?

I had the same question, i want to visit Zagreb this summer for the mig-21s. Anyone been here before who would like to share some tips?

Unfortunately after properly registering via email received the following response:

Dear sir,

I have to inform you, that until further notice, spotter activities are canceled and photo shooting is not allowed.
When we receive information from appropriate authorities, we will lift the ban and allow spotter activities.

Been there 3 years ago, no problems at all. You Just need to bring enough water because it is HOT in the summer and there is no shade.

That's good for you, but based on the message above yours, it is not a good idea at the moment to go to Pleso with your camera.....

Oh, that's a real shame.. hope they will lift the ban soon before it is over with the Migs.

From which email address or website is this coming from?

Was there last week on 30 May which is (without that `I knew it) a Croatian national holiday (Day of Parliament). I parked my car on the employee parking spot (which is easily possible, but not allowed) and walked towards the bridge where the military platform connects with the runway.

I was there with my son (2 years old) and saw 3 Mig-21's on the apron (dual sitters) and 4 PC-9s. First the four PC-9's left followed by 2 Mig-21's. I took shots thru the fence and the maintenance people definitely saw us as they waved to me. Very nice shots were taken, and afterwards I moved to the landing spot. The PC-9s and MiG-21s did a flypast over the city and only the Mig-21s returned which I shoot during the landing. Aircraft left around 18:00-18:15 and the Mig-21s cMW Back 30 minutes later.

Next to the flying aircraft, another 3 Mig-21s were read from the hanger, as well as 4 Mi-8 on the platform, the 2 stored AN-32 and some other stored/preserved aircraft around the field. This was my son's first spotting experience and although he probably will not remember it, I don't think he will ever see flying operational Mig-21s again

If you are there, don't forget to visit Velika Gorica, which is less then a 5 minute drive and connected thru a taxi way with Please AB. Saw there 8 stored UTVA-75's, all dumped long term stored aircraft and an operational CL-415 which was there for maintenance.

Do you have at lat/long of where you read the aircraft on the ramp and took photos through the fence....

That's good for you, but based on the message above yours, it is not a good idea at the moment to go to Pleso with your camera.....

Try to get a contact at the base and they can fix something with security, be creative worked for me.
