Defence Nota Netherlands 2022

Post by Canberra TT.18 »

New Defence Nota Netherlands
Extra
6 F-35
4 MQ-9
New
5 Transport aircraft replacing the C-130 (was known)
A new medium Utily Helicopter replacing the Cougars also for special operations. A bit like the RAF puma replacement?
Including a special operations Sqn.

so what will replace the C-130H's, the C-130J-30 or the Airbus A400M.
for the cougar replacement, im guessing either the H225M Caracal or the UH-60M Blackhawk will be the most possible candidates.

I think the C-130 replacement will be KC-390 or C-130J. Of which the latter one will be favored politically.

It depends on what Medium means.
I think the heli the UK selects could be a contender. But also AW149 MH-139 H175 H160 (cooperation with France) NH90. H145 seems to small. And wit needs good naval capability.

What interested me is the mentioning of equipment to improve heli range will be bought. Does this mean extra fueltanks or inflight refuelling probes and the later means tankers are needed!?

For now, it's anybody's guess... But, as the Minister for Defence also stated she wanted to integrate much more closely with Germany, and Germany is using H145's for their Spezialkräfte, I would not rule that one out (yet). As far as I can see, that might be a helicopter to a different spec than the medium-sized replacement for the Cougar/NH90. It is a matter of interpretation: either it's a different type altogether, or there will be specially earmarked medium helo's used (only) for SOF within the larger order for a Cougar/NH90 replacement.

And, concerning the range-extending: Boeing is showcasing the German order for the CH-47F with images of IFR-equipped Chinooks... so that "add-on" might be feasible for the Dutch Chinooks as well I guess.

Frank your right.
But the H145 is very limited in size and range. And is usable in Naval situations?
I believe the Dutch Chinooks can alrwady be fitted with Refuelling probe but you also need KC(-130) in that case to refuel them.
And yes we have to wait and see first info next year.

All in all lot of money to helicopter replacement and upgrafe programs. And there also some smalller projects not mentioned here.
Vervanging Medium Utility Helicopter (Cougar)
financieel volume: 1.000 - 2.500 miljoeni nstroom: geen

Inrichten SOF Air R/W capaciteit
financieel volume: 250 - 1.000 miljoen

A-brief aan de Kamer: 2023
Someone idea what R/W means?

A-Brief means first info to the parliament about project indicating about size and number. .D-brief is final projectplan number cost etc.
Money is indication it will cost at least. All project are between 25-100, 100-250, 250-1000, 1000-2500, 2500+ miljoen.

I'm surprised first about replacing NH90 and block upgrade in same year with midlife update between 2023-2026.
