Anatolian Eagle 2022 - Konya

Post by r.e.hendriks »

Hi all,

I'm currently working on the log of the spottersday held at Konya on June 30, 2022.
Before I post the full log I have some questions in advance.

- What is the exact type of the Azerbaijan Su-25's? And what is the c/n of 33bl.
- What squadrons do the RAF Typhoons belong to? None of them had markings.
- Turkish F-16s 91-0001 and 92-0008 both 162 Filo markings, according various websites this sqn is disbanded. Is this reactivated? Do they still belong to 6 AJÜ?
- What is the serial of the Tiger F-16 parked at the main apron.
- What is the serial of the second soloturk F-16 parked inside the shelter next to the one that flew, opposite this shelter was 88-0025.
- Turkish Star NF-5A with code "2" was seen outside, what is the serial?

Hopefully you guys/girls can help me.

Best regards, Rob

Presumably 140 EAW (Akrotiri)

Did anyone read off the E-7 that took part in the morning mission on the 29th ("media" day)?

Great overview Rob, thanks!!

Also in the hanger in the Southwest area:

4001/4 NF-5B-2000 134 Filo / 3 AJEÜ Turkish AF

The AS.532 took off in the morning and a second one was on the ramp, so probably based with 135 filo?

Just one tiny remark. I think you posted it in the wrong subforum. Last time I checked Konya was located in Asia :lol:

Hi Rob,

Thanks for the great log! Most welcome.

The Su-25's are lacking the small air intake in the root of the tail fin and therefore they appear to be Su-25BMs to me. However, they appear to have underwent some kind of a modernisation program as they have a non-standard antenna configuration.

As for the Turkish F-16's; not a real answer to your question about the 162 Filo aircraft but according to the briefing the following units were participating:

113 Filo (3 & 2 from Eskisehir) -=> two were present (89-0042 & 91-0017)
132 Filo (10) -=> based so many present
151 Filo (6) -=> six present (88-0034, 89-0026, 89-0043, 90-0012, 92-0017, 94-0088)
161 Filo (4) -=> three present (07-1019, 07-1023, 07-1029 and 91-0001 and 92-0008 with 162 Filo markings)
181 Filo (3) -=> two present (90-0014 and 07-1017 and 91-0012 with 182 Filo markings)
191 Filo (3) -=> three present (93-0681, 94-0071, 94-1560 and 92-0014 with 192 Filo Tiger color scheme)

So either 162 Filo was reestablished (as was 191 Filo about two years ago after they too were disbanded following the 2016 event) or they still fly them in their original 162 markings awaiting a possible reestablishment of the unit. Both 191 and 162 probably only merged with 192 and 161 respectively because they were massively understaffed following the mass firing of people in 2016.

Thanks Paul!

Now I know where to look for to see the differences between the common Su-25 and the Su-25BM.
I couldn't find any c/n on the 33 bl photos unfortunately. The 09 bl had clearly "10649" on the underwing pilon.

FYI, these Su-25BM were likely built in 2003, so far after the collapse of the Soviet Union. So you better compare them with Georgian Su-25BM than usual Russian examples ;-)
