SURINAM AIRWAYS HAS ITS OWN AIRCRAFT AND A NEW COLOR SCHEME

Surinam Airways (SLM) can have its own aircraft again after more than two years. It is a Boeing 737-800, which is used on regional routes. The device is equipped with a new color scheme that underlines the Surinamese identity.


The Surinamese state-owned society has been plagued for years by financial problems, political interference and mismanagement. As a result, leasing companies previously recalled their aircraft. However, Surinam Airways has managed to lease another aircraft, this time from AerCap.

The aircraft in question is still in Arizona, where the latest inspections and test flights take place. "In recent months, we have worked hard to bring in this aircraft," the airline said in a statement.

New colors
The Boeing 737-800 with registration PZ-TCV wears a new color scheme, where the winglets are provided with the Surinamese flag. The last aircraft to be included in the fleet, a Boeing 777 with which only a handful of flights were carried out, also had a new livery, but it is no longer used.

The 737 will be used, among other things, on the important route to Miami, from which American Airlines will withdraw next year. Flights to Schiphol are still operated with an ex-KLM Airbus A330 leased from Airhub Airlines.
