Kelly Field Annex (KSKF/SKF) - 2023

Post by Piet Luijken »

LOG 17-02-2023

Arriving early in the morning, I did a tour around the preserved aircraft then went to my first spot, the FBO parking at 29°23'04.9"N 98°34'28.9"W. Nothing was parked at the Atlantic FBO. Next stop was the parking at 29°22'47.0"N 98°34'24.2"W to read the F-16Cs and the C-5Ms on the west side. A quick look was taken on the Boeing Flight line as well, while a C-17A was parked at the terminal area. To read all C-17s at Boeing I went to Spot 2, 29°22'14.6"N 98°33'56.5"W. The south road was closed so I could not read from spot 1. I waited on the terminal parking area for the F-16s to fly, or any other traffic. A T-38C landed so I went to the FBO parking, thereafter the hangar was open next to the terminal parking a a glimpse on some L-159s was given. Nothing happened, all canopies of the F-16s were closed so I went to Randolph for the afternoon missions.

LOG 18-02-2023

The next day I tried again to photograph the TX ANG F-16s however again no movement. Two BB T-38As were parked at the FBO and could be photographed at the FBO parking area. The pilots arrived for their departure, however the engine did not start at 404 and only 217 departed to Ellington airport. Thereafter also the C-17A departed. The canopies of the F-16s were still closed so I did a proper read of the F-16s at the terminal parking and left at 1000lt.

West Side:

87-0384 (D), 88-0409, 88-0429/HO (HG5), 89-2134/HO
87-0255 was parked inside the hangar with the Texas Flag c/s and marked 80-0149
I think I missed two more F-16s in the back row.

T-38A 64-13217/BB 9th RW 1st RS departed as ASPEN45 to Ellington
C-17A 95-0102 437th AW departed as BOA18 (?)

The F-16 marked "80-0149" is weapons trainer 80-0526.
"87-0255" are the marks worn by the preserved machine, 80-0567.
