June 2023: Air Defender exercise may cause problems for Eurowings and other airlines. Airspace closure, etc...

Post by Stratofreighter »

Gigantic NATO maneuvers become a challenge for airlines
In June, the transatlantic defense alliance will train air warfare operations - primarily over Germany.
The NATO maneuvers are giving Eurowings a headache.

02/21/23 -

"We know that in these two weeks of June it will be much tighter than usual in the air," said Bischof.
"Especially in the upper airspace, sectors will be closed to a certain extent."

Eurowings is currently in contact with the air traffic control services in the various countries
and with the pan-European Eurocontrol on this subject.

When asked about the consequences for civil air traffic,
a spokeswoman for German air traffic control only said
that talks were currently being held with all those involved,
but that they could not yet provide any precise information.
