The pity thing here is that all UH-1s are parked in a way that the tail rotor is blocking the serial, and noses could not be seen (serial on nose as well). The 4 Blackhawks were also parked the wrong way.

This AHP also is outside the big Fort Rucker boundaries. However, this neighborhood does not like spotters or photographers! So (just like previous times) this was a real hit-and-run. From a small corner you can see a nice line of Chinooks and with digital camera, easy to take pictures from serials and be gone in just a minute. On the opposite side of the field was another row, but we could only read two of those….

Then we went to Rucker again. The plan was to do some hit-and-runs at some stagefields. Be aware, these are *not* like the Dutch GLV, or UK SPTA, where you can easily go. Our hobby is not appreciated by 99% of the locals or military guys. So don’t stay too long, don’t be in the open too much. Allen probably is one of the easiest with multiple spots around where you can shoot from. And with at some times 8 to 10 in the circuit, busy!

THE highlight of the trip was this place. We knew upfront that there were Japanese Ospreys inside hangars and F-18s from Kuwait as well, but did not expect to see any of them. Don’t as how (exact story is not for here), but we managed to see them! I put the ex bunos as well, as they were still on the ospreys as well. We were told by our guide that there were 6 Ospreys at that moment (so we had them all). Not sure how many F-18s as we only went to the big hangar, so there might have been few more in the other (some say 22 in total, some say 26).

Today was a quality day. Just like next Monday (Dyess) we would love to see some of the bombers fly. Besides, we were cleared to visit the on base museum, which was also nice. We only saw 3 buffs flying, but luckily they were a LA, BD and OT one! And some numbers were read on the ramps.

We saw 3 leave during the morning when in the museum. After long wait, these returned almost at the same moment, and all made several approaches. Very nice to see (and hear!). Pictures could be taken at south side of the runway in a park / playground.

Today was another bomber day! We went to Dyess. They have a very impressive museum (on base) and after contacting the director and the normal checks, you can get a tour. We also go a flightline tour (windshield), but no cameras allowed. As for flying, not that much. 3 B-1s and 4 C-130Js. But some trainers shooting approaches as well. Still, seeing B-1s take off and land is very impressive!

What a base!!! Because of weather (we were right between an ice storm and a warm weather front, so very grey in the morning) we had to re-shuffle our route a bit. But flying was amazing! They use 3 runways at the same time, so non-stop action. They flew RW17, so we were standing in the south east corner near the taxi track. Had some check from Security Forces, but no problem to take pictures. An easy 120+ serials read. Where as we would have had more if we did beat the heat waves….

The final day of our trip already! After 5.000+km, some very nice stories, loads of pictures and planes, we headed first to Alliance to check what was there (and were not disappointed!) and to JRB after that.

The blackhawks were a nice surprise and lined up near the fence. They departed during the morning (according to adsb).

The last one was a nice one! We were told that the visitors for the change of command would depart on Saturday, but very nice for us, they departed this Friday afternoon. Those F-5s were nice!!! The navy T-6ses were flying around the entire week. When we were about to leave, the TX Vipers came back, and something was weird with their callsign (re)numbering. So we decided just to check them, and all of a sudden there was a FM F-16 with them! All in all, very nice trip with loads of highlights and good fun!
