Tokyo-Narita 12-13-17-18 March 2023

Post by LifelinerOne »

Hi everybody!

work brought me to Japan and I had some time here and there to spot at Narita, Haneda and Fukuoka. Here's an impression of a few moments at Narita.

I've spotted from either the observation terrace on the roof of Terminal 1 or 2, which are excellent facilities. Although you're behind a fence, they have installed holes for your lense to fit through. The only downside from spotting from the terraces are exhaust fumes from running APUs, creating heatwaves.

The last time I visited Narita was 6 years ago. Compared to then, traffic is not as busy as then but that has to do with the final effects from the Covid pandemic. Especially the number of flights from Chinese carriers is still much less.

However, compared to that visit there was a notable uptick in flights from South Korean and Taiwanese carriers.

Anyway, enough talking, let's have a look at some pictures:

1. Bamboo Airways is flying to Narita daily with the A321neo, like this VN-A589:
ImageA321N-BMB-VNA589-NRT12mar23 by Anton Homma, on Flickr

2. Quite happy to finally catch a few A350s from Malaysia Airlines like this 9M-MAF:
ImageA359-MAS-9MMAF-NRT12mar23 by Anton Homma, on Flickr

3. Jin Air has returned its two B777-200ERs, like this HL7734, back to service to cope with the increased demand post-pandemic:
ImageB772-JIN-HL7734-NRT12mar23 by Anton Homma, on Flickr

4. Nice special Brunei-livery on this Royal Brunei A320neo V8-RBD:
ImageA320N-RBR-V8RBD-NRT12mar23 by Anton Homma, on Flickr

5. Air Incheon is flying a few times a week between Seoul-Incheon and Narita with the B737-800SF, like this HL8503:
ImageB738F-ICH-HL8503-NRT12mar23 by Anton Homma, on Flickr

6. Nice to capture this B737-300SF B-2986 from this airline with a very catchy name: China Central Longhao Airlines:
ImageB733F-LHA-B2986-NRT12mar23 by Anton Homma, on Flickr

7. Another regular is Air Seoul with their A321s like this HL7789:
ImageA321-ASL-HL7789-NRT12mar23 by Anton Homma, on Flickr

8. T'Way has two B737MAX8s, one of them this HL8513 which was delivered in December last year:
ImageB738M-TWY-HL8513-NRT12mar23 by Anton Homma, on Flickr

9. One of the few spotted Chinese carriers were these Spring Airlines A320neo B-30D7:
ImageA320N-SPR-B30D7-NRT12mar23 by Anton Homma, on Flickr

10. And this Shenzhen Airlines A330-300 B-303N:
ImageA333-SHZ-B303N-NRT12mar23 by Anton Homma, on Flickr

11. STARLUX from Taiwan can be seen at Narita two times a day, in the afternoon with the A330-900 and in the morning with the A350-900 like this B-58501:
ImageA359-SLX-B58501-NRT12mar23 by Anton Homma, on Flickr

12. Korean Air is nowadays also a MAX-operator as seen here with B737-8 HL8349:
ImageB738M-KAL-HL8349-NRT12mar23 by Anton Homma, on Flickr

13. Nice little BBJ VP-CTT:
