Pima Air Museum (07/13/2023) AZ

Post by AZSpotter »

Good afternoon,

Yesterday I visited after a long hiatus Pima Air Museum (AZ) to take a few pictures of several 'arrivals' over the last two years.
I was quite surprised to visit the 'transit / restoration and storage' yard being full with not seen before aircraft.

Among those were:

N176RA Dhc-7
N568CC Dhc-7
150281 / LZ-11 P2
no marking F-117 / Knighthawk
F-104 German Marine (26+44)
952 C-130 ex. Royal Norwegian Air Force (AYCF0002)
no marking Mil-17/8
no marking F/A-18 (VE sqn modex)
80-0509 / SH F-16 (FG129)
162134 SH-60B (Scorpions)
015 OH-58
N23743 / 171 C-27 (DOSAW-C-1)
no marking C-12
no marking C-7A (2x)

Quite an interesting bunch.

Hi Roy,

I was there last year September. I noted five c-7s in the storage yard then:
- 62-4150
- 62-4182
- 62-4183
- 63-9739
- 63-9755
So there are only two now?

The VE F-18 is buno 163132.

Regards,
René

I am particularly interested in the unmarked Mi-8/17. This wasn't there yet last Octber, when I did an overflight over AMARG and Pima. Indeed there were 5 C-7s there at the time by the way.

Hi Rene,

Thank you for the information in regards to the VE F-18.
It certainly looks like the museum restoration area has a few transient aircraft stored there as well.
I am planning to revisit the museum and take a closer look.
The Mi-8 = ex. German Navy (has been on display at the Museum before).
