BA116 Luxeuil (LFSX) 2021

Post by Oscar01 »

Morning,

Last week I went 2 days to France. First it was Luxeuil on 19th. Because of the 2000Ds from Nancy were here, it was a very nice day. Spotting and taking pictures was relaxt, not a problem (we were spotted by the gendarmery and locals quite a lot, but not checked).

Mirage 2000-5F EC01.002:
38-2-EI
42/2-EY
44/2-EQ special markings
55/2-EU
56/2-EG
78/2-EC

Mirage 2000D EC3 tdy
611/3-JP
615/3-JY
617/3-IS
630/3-XD
632/3-XE
636/3-JV
647/3-IO
650/3-IA
657/3-JM
662/3-XA
674/3-IR

Visit:
E83/8-TZ Alpha Jet

The 2000-5s did 3 rounds of sorties, the 2000D 2 rounds. In total we logged some 35 sorties in nice weather.

Yep, AFAIK 04/22 is not in use by the fighters. Spot 2 I have never been. Spot 1 is the best (only) option with westerly winds, near the small chapel. Spot 2 I was sent away from (picture taken just before that happened), though that was still in the days when this was a nuclear base.

It may be fairly quiet now, but good luck!
Rome has Bufalotta, Arizona has alotta BUFF..

Looking at the blurred image on GE it appears that 04/22 bears crosses (x x x x) on the runway.....if this it the case it appears to be disused.

Runway 04/22 is not in use only 11/29. And its indeed very quiet now. Mid July only 2 missions/ aircraft in the afternoon and a Falcon 7X doing circuits ... I stood near the chapel and had loads of heathaze due to the cornfields ...
