Low-cost carrier AnadoluJet will continue to fly under the name AJet from the 2024 summer season. The Turkish airline unveiled the new corporate identity on Friday at a ceremony at Sabiha Gökçen airport near Istanbul.
Where AnadoluJet was a division of Turkish, AJet will become an independent subsidiary within the holding company.
AnadoluJet was founded in 2008 by Turkish Airlines as a budget airline based in Sabiha Gökçen. Later, Ankara Esenboğa, the airport of the Turkish capital, was added. The low-cost carrier operates both inside and outside Turkey (including the Netherlands) and has built up a successful business model over fifteen years.
AnadoluJet has a fleet of 79 single-aisle aircraft, a mix of Airbuses and Boeings. All aircraft will receive AJet's new livery next year, which will start flying under this name from the end of March 2024.
The chairman of the board of Turkish Airlines, Ahmet Borat, said at the ceremony in Istanbul on Friday that he is confident that AJet will become "a major player" in the market of low-cost carriers.
