Hi Zonan,

It is always nice to read when people take some effort to visit Venegono. I can provide you with the numbers of the four MB-339CD’s you have seen parked outside awaiting IRAN:

MM55072/61-140
MM55077/61-145
MM55079/61-147
MM55081/61-151

The first three MB’s have been parked there since at least early May this year, the 61-151 had arrived in the morning on the day you were at Venegono. You have read MM55073 but that seems not correct, this MB-339CD came out of heavy maintenance in 2021 and was delivered to Galatina early 2022.

Hopefully this info is helpful to you. Greetings from the Varese province,

Marco

Hi Marco,

Was at Venegono on 10th of july and we saw 4 MB-339's. We could read MM55072 and MM55079.
Can you help me with the other 2 (I suspect MM55077 was one of them)?

Thanks!

Hi Chrissly 69,

IRAN means Inspection Repair as Necessary, in other words, a major overhaul. Overhaul on the MB-339 takes usually over a year to complete and is being carried out after a certain amount of flight hours or years.

Hi Lex,

MB-339CD MM55077 was surely one of them, the fourth one I don’t know. Was it a Frecce Tricolori MB-339 by the way? There are quite a few Frecce MB-339’s in various stages of overhaul at the moment so it is difficult to say which one could have been parked outside, if you have seen a MB-339A/PAN.

I hope this info helps,

Marco

13-12-23
Still the four, also read MM55077/079/081 and they blocked the fourth.
