T-41D’s Yogyakarta

Post by witje »

According to a message on Facebook the T-41D LM-4188 at the museum is now repainted and received serial LM-4182 (R-382). Scramble database has R-382 as “LM-4199” (fake) at the airfield of Yogyakarta. “LM-4199” is also repainted and is now serialed as LM-4186. It looks like R-382 was “LM-4188” all the time, while the real LM-4188 is preserved at Abdulrahman Saleh (according to the poster of the message on FB).
Hope someone can confirm LM-4186 is the real ID for “LM-4199”.

Thanks Martijn,

Interesting but still confusing.

As far as I know, the following were seen operational with new serials LM-4186, LM-4189, LM-4191, LM-4192
Other survivors are R-384 (Iswahyudi, l/n jul18), R-387 (Bandung, l/n jan09), R-395 (Kalijati, l/n feb24)

Onto an attempt at an overview of aircraft seen in the LM-41xx series:

"LM-4182" > see "LM-4188"(1)

"LM-4186" last noted operational jul96 > see "LM-4199"

"LM-4188"(1) Adiscucipto is/was not (exactly) at the museum but at the SMK Penerbangan Angkasa Adisucipto on the road leading to the museum since oct15. It was in a fake red/white livery. Can you confirm you saw it at the museum please? Or is it still at the school?
If it is now painted as "LM-4182" it could be the real LM-4182/R-382, but who is to say?

"LM-4188"(2), another one, was stored with FASI at Abdulrahman Saleh, Malang all white with parts missing in 2018. It was seen preserved with SkaTek 022 at Malang, that is likely to be the real one indeed.

"LM-4189", was with the Jakarta soaring club at Pondok Cabe until oct20, seen at Kalijati with the soaring club oct22.

"LM-4191" last noted operational in 1985 > fate?

"LM-4192" stored at Adisucipto dec90-feb20 > is instructional at the SMK Penerbangan Angkasa Adisucipto (same place where "LM-4188"(1) is preserved.)

"LM-4199" indeed used to be in the exact spot that the newly painted grey "LM-4186" now is, at the Northern base perimeter. It was first noted oct08. This could be the real LM-4186/'R-386, that was one of the survivors.

None were actually checked on their c/n as far as I know...

Did you see more preserved aircraft in Indonesia or can you share the source please?

best regards,
Erwin
