I've just been reading the airfield guide and info from other spotter sites. Seems to be becoming a relatively difficult place to spot. Am I right in thinking the only place to spot without causing any issues is the fairgrounds car park? Planning on a trip there next week.

Yes, Fairgrounds is the only place they allow you to stay but is only good for photos in the (late) afternoon. In the morning park on the gravel shoulder at E 32nd st. Just don't cross the street, apparently some guys did and Yuma SP's were not amused!
