Active on 8.8 were the following Tornado IDS/ECR of TLwG 51:

43+45, 45+77, 46,05, 46+23, 46+25, 46+36

44+75 and 46+40 were on the ramp with the two missing Tornados of the detachment were hided in the hangars.

This week only a morning mission will be flown. Four of the Tornados performed together an incredible sixteen overshoots/touch and go“s before their full stop.

46+36 showed a rarely seen short landing needing some 1.100m landing distance only leaving the runway near the tower.

Of course it can. But with their normal load of fueltanks etc. it will never shown at their home base, Jagel, because simply not necessary.

The two special painted MFG 5 Sea King Mk.41 89+58 and 89+63 did another farewell tour on 15.08. via Kiel and Hohn. On the return leg 89+58 became u/s and had to be left behind at Hohn, after some nice low approaches there.

Another issue had the TLwG 51 detachment with ECR 46+40 had an precautionary (emergency) landing on the same day.

The TLwG 51 Tornados departed back to Jagel on 20.8. In a few days the runway here will be closed until early-November and the base will only stay open for helicopters.
