Kleine Brogel (EBBL) 2024 spin-off

Post by frank kramer »

jock in NL wrote: 21 Sep 2024, 21:51 Looks like the "Spottersday" was a complete waste of 45 euros. I was speaking to a local Belgian spotter who went and he was seriously MAD.
3 aircraft for 45 euros.1 based F-16. 1 Fouga Magister and something else I forgot as I was laughing too much.
with the new restrictions in place, it was a joke trying to spot anything.
Jock, aren’t you mixing up the friday on KB and the situation at Sanicole (with the saturday perhaps)?

Sure, on friday it (again) was not the Spottersday you would associate with Belgian Air Force Days. But that is to be expected as it was a preparation and arrivals day for the Sanicole airshow and not the BAF-days. I had a good if somewhat expensive day on KB with more than just a few new and interesting aircraft. On base more could be seen than what you describe in your post (was that off-base?)

Can’t comment on the situation at Sanicole as I did not go there…

I don't understand either.
1 based F-16? Next to the arrivals of a lot of aircraft, they even threw out 6 operational F16's which flew their daily missions.
Like Frank says, are you mixing up days or locations?

Only going on what the guy said. He was extremely =censored= off to have spent €45 for 3 aircraft.

Myself, personally, don't waste money going into airshows anymore. So everything that I see is from the outside

As I said to previous comment, I'm only telling you what I was told. The guy paid €45 and photographed 3 aircraft. I'm not mixing anything up I just found it hilarious as I have seen the decline in these airshow days over the 10 years I have been here. Whether it's a KB airshow or the Sanicole airshow. To me they are both the same as the majority of aircraft come from KB

I don't know. As I previously stated, I don't waste my money on spottersdays.
Like most spotters I go on the day of arrival or day/s of departure

Here is a link to the SPOTTERSDAY at Kleine Brogel, Friday 20th September 2024, from the Kleine-Brogel Airbase.

I have left it in DUTCH so there can be NO confusion.

Ah, ok. I've read too fast then. Well, that guy must have mixed up things then.

Just different opinions then. Still, with the Swedes and my last Irish PC9 and C295MPA, I must say that getting the Fouga on the ground with that KB background WAS a nice bonus.

Jock, I now see numerous posts from you how terrible the spotters days are and that you don't spend any money on them. True, the number of demo's are decreasing with a lot of demoteams (or solo's for that matter) disbanding. But everybody can choose if he will attend the spotters day or not and judge if it was worth it. If they are happy, all is fine, if somebody isn't, don't come back next time! I really really appreciate the Belgians that they still do this. Three years ago they even allowed you to return on the Monday!

And I agree with Frank, the Irish and Swedish participants were top notch! :bday:

Firstly, I would like to thank bvdboomen for his apology and Frank Kramer for his comments. Having been here 10 years now, I know it's impossible to get an apology from Dutch men as they refuse to take responsibility for anything. I'm surprised there are any children in NL :-)

Next. Having missed out on the arrivals day, I decided to go to the departures day. Today.
I met 4 English guys that travelled to the Ostrava airshow only for it to be cancelled. NO LUCK.
I asked these Coningsby based spotters WHY would the RAF paint a EUFI in D-DAY colours? The answer was typically British. "The only reason it was painted is it is getting scrapped next year." It is one of the first Eurofighters the RAF got, with a construction number of "BS004". The RAF have newer, upgraded Eurofighters and these are far too old.
It is nice to see the RAF sending their old garbage to European Airshows.(If you could call that an Airshow)

Only 1 US F-16 departed and only 1 F-18 of Finland(At time of posting). I heard the Turks leave tomorrow as they found extra space in their F-16's to fill with marijuana. Of course, the Irish took off two times.....to be sure, to be sure.
E.190 the Danish A.F. F-16 gave a nice "Wing wave" as he departed.

The ultimate star of the show goes to "Sally B". "Sally B" still sends shivers down the spine. The Germans banned it from their airspace and put up 4 tigers at the border because the last time it was in Germany brings back too many bad memories.

As for the rest of the participants. All I can say is YAWN.

Finally for Fishbed. The only reason the Swedes arrived was they FINALLY became part of NATO. NO OTHER REASON.
The Irish turned up because they were promised "FREE GUINNESS" from the organisers.
The reason YOU appreciate the Belgians is that the Dutch STOPPED the Volkel Airshow after Covid therefore making it the nearest airshow to you. If you don't like my posts Fishbed you DON'T have to read or comment on them. As YOU said. IT'S YOUR CHOICE

Nobody owes Jock an apology, there were just some questions asked - nothing else. The (untrue) rant about Dutch men on the other hand is the only childish part I read here. Keep it nice.
