A clear blue sky with eastern winds made a perfect exercise day on 17.10. with the following TLwG 51 Tornados were active in the morning:
ECR: 46+24 and 46+44 (both for Steadfast Noon), 46+36 and 46+52 (Tiger, came back early with an unknown emergency)
IDS: 44+69 (Air Defender), 45+16, 46+05 (Tiger fuel tanks)
335.Mira was active with F-16C 003, 011 and 013.
191.Filo flew with F-16D 94-1560 and F-16C 93-0679.
Esc 53 F-16AM flying were 1603 and 1613.
The urgent support for the ill-fated 1617 hopefully came with Esc 902 C-27J 2703 which landed in the morning.
A rare visit on German soil and especially at Jagel was made on 22.10. by RDanAF/Esk 721 CL.604 C-172 arriving as "DAF 001" with Denmark´s King Frederik X and wive from Berlin for a visit in Schleswig-Holstein.
On 7.11. Tornado ECR 46+38 came back from heavy maintenance at Manching, still in it‘s special 2023 NTM scheme. Presumably this will be kept until 46+38 last days in service.
For the first time in many years the Bundeswehr will demonstrate flying displays with the Panavia Tornado.
In the past Luftwaffe and Marineflieger had some kind of Flying Display Teams. Now a Tornado "Demo Team Crew" is planned for the first time from season 2025 and perhaps should celebrate the last few years of the long and successful carreer of this aircraft type in German service. Other Display teams should be HSG 64 with CH-53, LTG 62 with A400M and the already known Tiger UHT of KHRgt 36, Eurofighter of TLwG 74 and THRgt 10 with NH90TTH.
TLwG 51 is obviously the chosen wing. Generalmajor Holger Neumann, Commanding Officer of Flying Units (Kommandeur Fliegende Verbände) met some of the teams last week at Cologne to discuss the plans.
For TLwG 51 this could be a nice start, as Jagel is chosen to be one of the host bases of the 2025 Tag der Bundeswehr in June.
