Yesterday, Belgium's newly appointed defence minister, Theo Francken, has announced that Koksijde Air Base (home to the Belgian AF's 40 Squadron) wil not be closed down afterall, following protest from both mayors of Koksijde-Oostduinkerke and Oostende, and locals at Raversijde (where the new base was supposed to be planned).
this means the moving of the NH90-NFH fleet (and future SAR helicopters) to Ostend International Airport has been postponed indefinitly.
