But on the site they state that bagbacks are not allowed eighter (A lot of spotters use backpacks for there camera/lenses). How about that??jerre wrote:Something else now: Security at Geilenkirchen.
At http://www.e3a.nato.int/25th_Anniversar ... sitors.htm you 'll find all information about base access and security. I've e-mailed them to be sure that taking pictures at the airbase is allowed.
Here is their answer.

Good afternoon!
Thanks for your interest at the 25th Anniversary of the NATO E-3A Component.
The tickets will be also available at the entry to the event area during the
event days 16 and 17 June.
Concerning the photo equipment and associated bags/cases security checks
will be in place - picture taking is allowed. Only trolleys and big
(oversize) cases are prohibited.
Hope to see you there,

Does anyone know @ what time the gates open
Last year i went to the Spangdahlem open house and the rules where the same... But! everybody had a bag with him and there were no problems at all. Everyone was thouroughly checked at the gate and if found clean you could enter the base with your bag. (this doesn't say that it will be exact the same at Geilenkirchen but just to give an indication).Redskin wrote:But on the site they state that bagbacks are not allowed eighter (A lot of spotters use backpacks for there camera/lenses). Later on the day indeed there were people with all kind of bags. So I guess if you wait till later in the day they will be tired of sending people back to their cars.
I will be there early in the morning and I won’t take the risk
