And an early arrival from a 437th AW C-17A c/s Rch299
Anyone got a serial for that one??

Hope it helps!

Hotel Atlantis should definitely be added to the spotters guide as it has good spotting opportunities. If rwy26 is in use, rooms 50 and 51 are ideal and dinner at the terrace can be combined with viewing the aircraft taking off..

Elmar,

Can you tell me which (2) RS Hercs were practising approaches around 2100h on August 2nd? Didn't have my binoculars during dinner at the nice restaurant alongside the railwaystation.

Thanks,

Arco

Flying along as Herky80 formation.

Hope it helps!

Hi all,

Yesterday 17 august I drove by Ramstein AB and saw some aircraft parked at the main ramp.

I counted five C-17's and one C-5....this was around 13.05lt.
Does anyone have more info on the serials??

Thanks a lot!

Best regards, Rob.

Rob, it 's a shame you drove by.
The HH C17 landed at 1130 so it was one of the C17s on ramp.
There were two C5s. One was standing at a straight angle, he was from Dover. The other one (90002) departed during the afternoon.

Low res far away

Post by Ergo01 »

Yes I have, but far away with a simple digicam.
Let's wait whether one of our German colleaugues got him on base or at Landstuhl or Mendig, we think he might have been heading towards one the two -Ramstein being busy too busy for patterns-.
If not, I'll post my pic at the FF. Posting here is too complicated for me (and many others evidently)

Nice log!!

Yeah I know, but I was on my way back home from a holiday with my girlfriend.
Do you perhaps have some times with this nice log??
I saw five C-17 at parked parallel on the runway. The C-5 was parked in a 90 degree angle to them. Maybe this helps a bit.

Thanks a lot.
Regards, Rob.

Hi Ergo01,

I have some additions and corrections for you.
First the corrections:
C-5A 70-0450, must be 70-0460

Also visiting the base this day where:
C-5's: 70-0455, 85-0007
KC-10: 85-0033

C-37: 99-0404
C-130E: 63-7848

Cleaning the log

Post by Ergo01 »

Eric,
Thanks for additions/corrections.
00450 seems to be in AMARC, and we did see 00460 two weeks so you must be right.
I'm quite certain about 40180. Took a pic of this one at EHSB in 09-2006.
KC10 was 50033 OK.
An UH60 unloading a C17, ahum, that's a miracle...

Rob,
Just thinking it must have been quite a detour to pass along Ramstein and Spang on the way back from holdifdays and how to sell this...
As you may have noted there were other C5s'on base, so it is not sure which one you have seen.

Hi Ergo,

We were on the approach as well, and it was 100% 40180, not 160.
