I arrived too late for the arrival, but I enjoyed the take-off of our Spanish amigo!

Fueldumping. The same was observed on its previous visit two weeks ago: 'Only during take-off, just 35 litres...', the crew replied when the Tower wanted to know what it was they observed... (right, 35 litres....) :D

Does anyone know why the 707 is dumping fuel?

Jonas, we meet again 8)
I think it's the vent valve, this happens often during accelleration when a plane's wing tanks are full.

I don't no much about Boeing aircraft, but you could be right.
In the horizontal stabilliser on the Airbus A330/A340 I work on there is a valve that makes sure the fuel can't get into the vent. tank but this is only on the horizontal stabilliser.
(I have replaced thise valves a couple of times, because they break off).

It used to be a more common sight in the past, I've seen fuel streaming from many a 707/DC-8 during taking off - and from a bunch of mil types too, for that matter. Looks like this issue has been tackled in more modern designs.
