Forum rules
ImageThis is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum.
Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post.
In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.).

Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so.

A day at a cold but sunny Dusseldorf

Post by Polecat »

Spend the day at a very cold Dussy today, arrived at 08.30, when the dew on the grass was still frozen... (as were my fingertips...)
Not many special a/c, but great light throughout the day and some interesting testing with the VR lense (see photography forum thread)
The runway in use was the 05, and construction work was well underway on the taxitrack, spoiling a couple of landing shots unfortunately...

Some early shots...

some more from yesterday...

Image

I'm not too fond of the Terminal terrace, I prefer the railwaystation, but okay, it makes a nice change to have concrete instead of tarmac as a background...

It seemed only the LTU A-330's rotated quickly enough to catch them with 300mm

Again, as there was an interesting thread on VR/IS on the photoforum, and also about the Nikon 70-300 VR, I played around a bit with it yesterday. Here are some of the ones I took with (roughly) 1/160 f18 and VR on

Been to Dusseldorf quite a few times, but for the first time I went to the GA area, and found this old Learjet there. Although for numbers reading it is ópen'enough, for photography there's quiete a bit of fences. A small stepladder comes out handy!

The SAS anniversary A319 has a really great c/s. I think all SAS aircraft should be painted this way. It looks much better than the normal c/s.
Kind regards

It was my first time too. I looked on Google Earth for a general heading first and saw it is on the far left side of the field.
On arrival, instead of going right to the Bahnhof (as I guess you usually do), just drive through the terminal, and look for the signs Tankstelle. Just keep on driving and something like General Aviation or ExecutiveAvn or so.. Be sure to bring stairs....
