I do feel the need to react on your comment Rene. I am not saying that what you wrote isn't the reason for this decision but I have seen things in the past of non-military spotters at events which couldn't see the daylight. I am sure you have as well. Looking at the pictures of this TLP session on the net I have only seen pictures of one military person, from the top of my head. As I know him rather well, and I think you might as well, I am sure he isn't responsible for this decision by the TLP command. There for your conclusion MIGHT not be valid.

It seems that with fewer exercises, sqn exchanges etc opportunities are getting less and less to see and get interesting shots. The rarer things get the stupider people act. No differert with our hobby I guess.... I am ashamed for this!

You could have expect this decision after the below message. It is not something of last two TLP editions.

Let's cross fingers that this decision will not have any consequences for
upcoming events in Belgium, like Kleine Brogel.... :( :x :?

Hi Crizz,

But if this has nothing to do with spotters "in the military", who else could have gained access since all organized spottersdays have been cancelled throughout this whole year?!
Then again if there were spotters who got lucky and got an invitation, they surely got accompanied by some kind of officer to guide them!?

Sure as hell pisses me off, since we had a good reputation with the spottersdays each session and there was never one dispute on bad behaviour. Our hope was growing with a new season getting started and the change of the command which should have resulted in probably getting the spottersdays back on the menu  .

I hope they caught the ones destroying these last chances for all of us!

Just my 2cents!

Sjoerd, take a look in the photo forum on this site. I was surpriced to see so many on base pictures this TLP edition from "known" and "unknown" people. I almost wondered if there was a open base policy installed....

Hi,

According to 2Wing Staff, these were Dutch spotters who were allowed on base, but not on TLP ramp. In my *own* words "a selfguided tour"...

Names were mentioned, but I won't publish them here as tlp staff is still working on this (and yes, they were dutch     ).

I was thinking the exact same thing. Can't say I'm surprised this happenend and I can't say I disagree with this decision. Party is over, get over it and join everybody else at the fence!

Gentleman,

Please let us stick to the facts, the main reason why the spottersdays in 2007 are canceled is our American friend in the TPL staff (is he still leaving by the end of December?). However, if the facts really are as Oscar says, open up and make known the names. People who use “self guided” tours to visit of limit areas are the nail to the coffin. Nevertheless, Richard’s reaction surprises me a lot, please do not call people selfish just because they were able to organize a visit, many people are hiking along where others invest a lot of time and effort to organize these kinds of visits.

Perhaps one of the persons involved is reading along and is willing to explain the whole story in his own words?

Best Regards,

Marcel

Ps. Crizz, good idea bring the “koek en sopi tent” from the north, you do not need it for this years “elfstedentocht” anyway… :D

Can anyone tell me if there is a specific routine with the departures?

Know from experience that if the weather sucks, they might leave Thursday afternoon already, but with normal conditions, how would the departures be organised on Friday's? All in one go early morning, or spread throughout the day?

My experience is that some aircraft will already depart thursday afternoon, after the last mission, while others will depart Friday morning. Don't expect a mass launch, but most, if not all, will normally be gone by noon. And of course you can get some nice transport aircraft, both on Thursday end of the afternoon and Friday.
Have fun!

I'll be there both Thursday and Friday so fun I will have....

Is it possible to have an update on which aircraft are currently at EBFS, just for my reference?

Hoi Hans,

Looking at the weather forcast and at http://www.florennes-as.be" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; a normal mission should be planned and flown. Expect departures between 12.30 and 13.30 with arrivals starting somewhere around 14.30/1500.

Have fun! 8)
