Question: why do allmost all the companies from whom an aircraft has crashed, paint or put a sticker on the airlines name? About everybody knows this is/was an Iberia aircraft? Imago? But that's allready a little bit too late.

Probably taking away a name and logo gives passengers and other more the feeling it was a plane involved and not an airline. For me it stays indeed the same, you say the colours and with the ec-joh you even still see the logo on the tail.

Airbus have released an All Airbus Operators safety message outlining what is already known about this accident.

It appears that the approach was normal until short finals, and the aircraft touched down with a very high rate of decent.
The impact caused quite a bit of damage to the main gear (burst tyres, damaged sensors etc). As a result of the damage, the air/ground sensors didn't indicate that the aircraft was on the ground, so the reversers failed to deploy, and the burst tyres mean that the autobrake didn't activate, although the pilots applied full manual braking 5 seconds after touchdown.
The aircraft left the end of the runway at 85kts, and Airbus says that the average deceleration was consistent with the wet runway, four burst main gear tyres, and lack of thrust reversers.

Not only to give the passengers a good feeling (or not a bad one anyway), but also to prevent bad publicity. For everytime a picture is taken of the plane (be it as the subject or just something in the back), it reminds everyone of the Iberia crash. Remember that famous picture of the Mandarin MD-11 taxiing by one if its sisterships? Burned out and upside down between the runway and taxiway? Well, no airline wants that....

They don't want to be associated with these kind of incidents by "normal" passengers. Yes, we (spotters) know it is an Iberia machine, but I doubt if in a few months time any John with the baseballcap, or Igor with the furhat still knows when he sees it when he is taxiing at that airport.
