Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post.
In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.).

Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so.

First spotting trip for me this year and first time with my Canon 40-D,
nice talking to you Iwan, and the other guy (didn't get his name..)

Hi Roel, nice pictures but they are a bit grainy....what are your settings and which lens do you use?

Do you like the 40D?

can't believe I had a big hair on my sensor, after owning the camera for only a week!
Well, last week I dropped my 40D on the pavement after shooting only 150 pics or so. Still seems to work fine (and no hairs :wink: ).

Nice pics!

According to the exif the first C-130 picture was taken at ISO 400, F10, 400mm, 1/1000, second picture at 1/100. The grain is probably caused by the ISO value.
Do you like the 40D?
I would like to know that too. There's a couple of people with an EOS40D on this forum now, let's hear your opinions! :D

Hi Warthog64 (Roel),

Just curious: Which lens and settings dit you use? How many millimeters analogue for these pictures? Really nice :D .

When seeing such nice pics I also would like to make a first spotting trip.

Hope to read some extra info from you.

I have not yet had the occassion to take the 40D out for some serious 'business'. However, I already noticed a big improvement in AF performance compared to the 20D, which I had before. Also, better ISO performance.

At first I didn't like the buttons below the lcd-screen, wich were to the left of it on previous camera's. Right now it doesn't bother me anymore.

I have used the Live View and it's very handy in a controlled environment (tripod, portraits etc). Pretty much useless for action photograhpy.

And, like I said, it's a sturdy camera because I dropped mine on a stone floor and it still works like a Swiss clock.

I have my own EOS40D since November. Unforrtunately I had no time to test it during an avation related event but it perfomed good on a recent vacation.

I guess Roel used his Canon 100-400. Settings withh shutter priority. First 3 F-16's at 1/800. Then 3x F-16 at 1/500. Tonka at 1/800. C-130 as earlier mentioned.

Hi Roel,

Nice shots, but they seem oversharpened orso and indeed grainy as Menso mentioned. Maybe big crops?

Are you satisfied with the results of your new cam?

Roel, nice weather, low take off's! But... There is much noise in the pic's and they indeed are a bit over sharpened.

I think the noise in this case is easily removed by a noise remover program, it's not that bad. But with this weather ISO200 or maybe even 100 should be possible, not?

Thanx for the comments guy's,
I still am used with the photoshop workflow of the canon 20-d,
I think that the 40-d performs sharper, so thats why some pics are indeed oversharpened.
and some pics are crops and high iso...

here one of the pics I posted earlier with noise reduction from neat image...,

Roel,

Are these shots made in RAW or JPEG? I still see a lot of noise for Iso250 in the shot above?
