VOLKEL NEEMT ONDERSCHEPPINGSTAAK OVER

Vliegbasis Volkel heeft vandaag de Quick Reaction Alert-taak (QRA) overgenomen van vliegbasis Eindhoven. In het kader van QRA onderscheppen F-16’s van de Koninklijke Luchtmacht onbekende vliegtuigen boven Nederlands grondgebied. Volkel voert deze opdracht voor vijf maanden uit.

Op de vliegbasis staan twee vliegers en twee crewchiefs 24 uur per dag paraat. Ondersteunende diensten zoals de brandweer, medische dienst en luchtverkeersleiding staan ook standby. Op deze manier kunnen binnen enkele minuten twee F-16’s operationeel zijn.

De Koninklijke Luchtmacht voert deze taak uit in nauwe samenwerking met het Air Operations Control Station (AOCS) in Nieuw Milligen. De F-16’s worden ingezet wanneer een vliegtuig het Nederlandse luchtruim binnenvliegt zonder radiocontact te maken. De jachtvliegtuigen gaan op het toestel af om het te identificeren en om contact te maken met de bemanning.
In English (more or less): As of today Volkel will perform the QRA-task for five months. They took over this task from Leeuwarden (although the official statement says Eindhoven). Two F-16s are on alert 24/7.

Hmm strange combination of callsign and aircraft, The Gulfstream mostly uses NAF11 and NAF41 belongs to a KDC-10 flight. Misheard or....?
Assume makes an ASS of U and ME.

Hi Stefan,

GAMH21 Bo-105P (86+21) arrived from Kyritz (Bremen FIR) at 12:30LT.
The Bo made stops at Bonn-Hardthohn & Oirschot and was conducting somekind of VIP-flight. ATD EHVK 14:51LT to Koln-Bonn.
