Learning....

Post by vinvanmil »

Hello All,

I am just starting to listen to aircraft-communications (both civil and military) and I have to admit, I am a bit confused... I realise it will take me a while to fully understand what is being said, what the radio procedures are, the terminology etc....

However, I was wondering if there is a website/book/etc that would help me getting to understand everything a bit better? ("scannering for dummies"). Something that would explain in some simple steps how to start listening to aircraft communications, in what sequence information is being passed on by the pilots, how does an aircraft travel through airspace (like when switching from approach to tower??), etc etc

In addition, any tip that would help me understand things a bit better would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!

Data Base

Post by Radiomonitor »

08.05.04-1344z--I have a very useful data base... - I can air mail the data base on one CD to you, if you give me a mailing address... - of course completely free of expenses...- from amateur to amateur...!

The data base contains aircraft tail numbers, - aircraft types, call signs, - locations (air bases), dsn-telephone registry. - etc.
