Stafsels: would be nice, but don't count on it. Although the airfield is big enough to handle a meeting like that, Chipmeet itself is not an airshow, nor is it a commercial meeting that can handle large amounts of visitors. Organisation of this meet is currently purposely limited to the size it is.

But at this moment we do have the following confirmed participants:
14 Chipmunks (G-AOJR, G-ATHD, G-BBMZ, G-BCPU, G-BWTG, G-BWVZ, G-CDWF, G-DHCC, G-HAPY, G-PVET, OY-ATF, OY-ATL, OY-ATO, OY-ATR),
1 Auster 6A (G-ARIH),
1 Yak.18 (OO-IAK),
1 Yak.50 (RA-3446K),
2 Yak.52TW's (YR-UAA, YR-UAU),
1 Yak.52 (G-CBSS).

As always, above list is not definitive, subject to change and very dependent on weather conditions. Usually, we see some interesting day visitors and you can expect some late participants as well.

Also note that not all participating aircraft will be here on all days. Based on the current planning, the best chance to see most aircraft seems to be on Saturday, but I can't give any guarantees on that. So come whenever you like and see for yourself :D

Cheers,
Herbert
Enjoy!

L-18C OO-LOT seems to be a little problem here. My Belgian civil register gives it as c/n 18-3218, ex OL-L12, L144 and 53-4818.

Belgian Military Aviation by Paul Jacson gives for:
OL-L12 c/n 18-3086, ex 53-4686.
And for L144 c/n 18-3218, ex OL-L144, 53-4818, to OO-LOT.

Am I right in believing it's real militairy id was L144?

Cheers,
Perry.

According to Daniel Brackx's "Luchtstrijdkrachten België - Vliegtuig- en registratieoverzicht 1945-2007" there were, in fact, two L-18C airframes in Belgian Army-service with serial L-12:

* The first L-12 had c/n 18-3086 and was lost in an accident at Brasschaat (B) on May 5th, 1960 (this could also be the administrative write-off-date rather than the actual date of the accident: see conflicting date of serialallocation of second airframe).

* A second airframe, with c/n 18-3218, was allocated the serial L-12 in August '59, which is quite peculiar, because this is before the write-off of the first L-12... Anyway, in the history of this second L-12 there's also a reference to a former serial L-144. Wether this serial was actually worn, or allocated but then not used, is a little unclear to me. By the way, OL-L12 was the last used serial presentation of this airframe in military service. This is the one that is still in civil registry as OO-LOT. On its fuselage it reads 'PA.19'... (modified version of the original PA.18??).

Big credit to Daniel Brackx!!

Best regards,

Stephan

PA-19

Post by Hot Air »

On its fuselage it reads 'PA.19'... (modified version of the original PA.18??).
According to the FAA type certificate a civilised L-18C is known as PA-19.

In the words of Herman Dekker in his book '75 Jaar Nederlandse Luchtvaartuig Registers: '
"De type-aanduiding PA-19 werd oorspronkelijk gebruikt voor een drietal prototypes van de militaire L-21. Op 1 april 1949 werd aan Piper door de FAA een type-certificaat uitgereikt voor het type PA-19 en dat was dan de geciviliseerde versie van de militaire L-18C."
