Legends never give much free about participants, so it's more a surprise what turns up.

I know the BBMF site gives Hurricane and Spitfire and the Dak, but the last one has also been mentioned at RIAT, to play part in an auctioned VIP package, so if Duxford passes through the RAF Participation Committee remains to be seen. RIAT prio 1 show, Legends no prio.

The Lelystad Catalina has given 4 different shows this weekend, (RIAT, Duxford, Navy Days and Wolfgangsee in Austria) in the januari issue of Verenigde Vleugels. I don't think they are gonna make all these.

Talking about Flying Legends; I am (finally....) going to visit this show for the first time of my life. Since the runway is almost E-W and the public is on the north side I fear the whole show is facing the sun. Are there opportunities to go to the other side of the runway, either on or off base? Looking at google Earth I don't really see any possibilities on the "outside" unfortunately.
I know I am going to enjoy it anyway, but I will most if I can make some perfect pictures....
Thanks in advance!
Cheers,

This years flying legends is my fourth. I was there in 1996 when the P-38 crashed, in 2000 and in 2004. There is no oppertunity to go to the other side of the airfield. in the past there was, then you could go to a nearby road that was parralel to the runway but since 1996 they close that road at every airshows. But i think that the photo situation isn't bad at all only in the morning your really have problems with the sun but luckely the show will start at 13.00 LT

Just one more advise, If you want make good pictures. Be early. As we all know, the british will claim their spot first by ankering their chairs to the fence. I have learned in the 10+ times I've been there to addapt to that custom (If you can't beat them, join them). Nowadays I am there when the field openens which is around between 0730 and 0800.

I am always near the Landwarfare hall during those shows, gives you the best change to take a picture without something modern behind it.
I also go to Duxford the day before flying legends, you can visit the museum quite normally and most of the participants of the show will be towed outside and make practise runs. Which gives you opportunaty to make great photographs.
I was also told that great photo's can be taken outside the field on the east side. Believe from Duxford you take A505 first roundabout after M11 to the right. (Google earth says it is Hunts Road). Over there are the legends in the turn towards Duxford again for their demo.

Hope it is of any help.
I will be there too!

Grtz
