Volkel monday 02-june-2008

Post by Sines »

Good wx, fairly hot, busy in the morning, awfully boring in the aftenoon with only two Falcons going airbone. Even the demo spare wich came back in the morning from some weekend show had to fly the aftenoon. Is our Air Force equipment that bad? Anyway, good results as far as the pictures go.

Scramble

Yes AMARX, it was scrambled together with the J-003. Before take off one had an ground abort and a spare was taken if I heard correctly.

Though a nice pic of the herc, but too bad the propblur is not there...
http://WWW.FVPHOTO.NL/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; --- Check out my photos of this spotting season on my website!

I'd rather depict atmosphere and the 'heat of the moment' making a catchy photo than to reflect the real situation and real colours showing a boring photo.

I don't hope you have the Cornfieldrange in your mind?!? They would be very surprised if he launches his rockets there...

Well, the fact that they use the spare demo for normal flying isn't too surprising? That's what they have it for... It doesn't mean the other aircraft are unable to fly or something.

And indeed, J-058 has two AMRAAMs and two Sidewinders, that's an air-to-air load-out. There is no range in this part of Europe where these are life-fired to my knowledge. The ranges in our region are air-to-ground, so they drop bombs there, mostly.

Nice shots all! :thumb:

Flygvapnet, I totally agree with you comment. Personally I am a big fan of blur. Both camera wise, as well as :drunk:
This picture was made with camera two and as the plane only passed once these high shutter settings were recongnised too late. Here's one from Cam1 and although I like blur I find the first better in the colours. That's why I uploaded the first.

@ Mickey: I was suprised to see it flying so soon after it came back from an airshow.

In the D-42 they shoot live AIM-9's on regular basis, one aircraft is a flair shooter and the other a/c shoots live missiles!
It's located north of the Dutch islands.

Frieslan and above does not exactly qualify as Europe I'd say, Heel Friesland is een EHDanger Area.

Oké je mag ffkes terug Flamen. Alleen Spine hé!

Don't wanna be picky... but flare's are used for infra red seekers and chaff for Radar missiles..... If it was a flare shooter and the shot of one AMRAAM? it would be bye bye birdy ;)

Now back to topic :)

I'm talking about live AIM9 shooting, wich they fire on a flare, have some recordings of it. Also Spang a/c use this area.
There is/was a YouTube footage of live AIM9 shooting by Spang in the D-42, can't find it anymore. :?

Spine is correct about the shooting of the aim 9 missile's over the north sea. The rnlaf uses old suu 20 rocket dispensers for this job. they modified this dispensers for the use of flare rockets.
