REQ>Reg. Bell 47 Rotterdam

Post by SWAT 11 »

Hello all,

Last Monday I saw a Bell 47 standing on the roof of a office while driving on the A20 from Rotterdam towards Gouda. Also seen was the Comet fuselage bij Nieuwerkerk a/d IJssel.

Who can help me finding these registrations, or knows more about the w&r’s.

Best regards,

Arno Cornelissen

Far as I know this Bell (look alike) is (scale?)model remake helicopter, the Comet is (one of) the prototype(s)?

It's DH-106 Comet 1 c/n 6009 ex G-ALYW. Became a Nimrod fuselage mockup as "XV238" and later an MR2 trainer with new instruments.

See URL:

Arno, you shouldn't have driven so fast on the A20, then you would have seen that the alleged Bell 47 doesn't even really look like a Bell 47 ;-)

It's on top of the "Free Record Shop" office, and it's as fake as can be.

About the nimrod:
The aircraft is the civil Comet 1 G-ALYW converted to a Nimrod trainer. It used to carry fake serial "XV238" at one time.

Drove past Van Vliet truck along the A20 today, noted that the Comet (Nimrod like) cockpit section has been taken from its trailers and sits now preserved outside the company.
The "grey" military look-a-like colors have been painted over with a white c/s and wears a blue cheatline with the titles "Air Cargo" just behind the cockpitwindow.
