REQ: ID Fiat G.91 @ Geiselwind (Freizeitpark)

Post by Wijgert IJlst »

Hello All,

Who can help me with the ID of the FIAT G.91 which has been preserved in the Freizeitpark in the German town Geiselwind for many years now.
If I remember well it is painted in (fake?) Tiger c/s, and some people state this might not be a former German but Italian airframe.

Hope some one can help out here...

Cheers,
Wijgert

If it's the one in Twisteden of the G.91T it should be MM6356, but this is somewhere near Nurnberg. I am looking for you. I was a little too quick with my answer. According to http://www.flugzeugforum.de" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; where they have a pic it is painted in yellow.

It's indead near Nurnberg in Bavaria-region, don't know if this one has moved on to Kevelaer later on... but it has been in Geiselwind for over several years. When looking on Google Earth, you can still see it beeing preseved (pole-mounted) near the enterance actualy.

I made a picture of the one in Twisteden on my way back from NRN last week. Maybe it can help to solve the problem.

Rob / Franker,

Have not seen it recently in Geiselwind my self (last sighting by me is years ago), but I have no reason to think it is the same aircraft as in Twisteden. My request was indead not about Twisteden at all...
Any recent sightings of the Gina in Geiselwind to confirm it is still there? And also still my request, any one there with its real (former) ID please?

Thijs, thanks for looking... you have the same info in that case! Lets hope someone else knows!

Cheers,
Wijgert

Dear Wijgert,

At the end of Februari this year the Gina was still present in Gieselwind. Although I can confirm this, my other info is the same like yours. None at all ;-)

blue c/s?

Post by erik_kamphuis »

if the Gina is painted in a blue-ish colour, i saw it on july 30th, when i drove slowly over the highway along the funparc Geiselwind. it looked like a plane, but don't know for sure if that was the G.91?

I can confirm TF-104G post. Saw it last weekend, yellow c/s.

Go to google-maps and type "Geiselwind, Top of the world".
It will bring you right to the G.91.

The G91R at Gieselwind will probably be never known.
Some 20 years ago I went to the park before opening times.
After some talk with the owner I was allowed with his large ladder to take a look inside the
cockpit of the pole mounted a/c, hoping to find some clues about its id.
Their were no markings in the cockpit and on the outside of the cockpit
was no c/n plate which the German G91s normally have (also no holes from a removed plate).
This may confirm the story that the owner told me that the aircraft is a former Italian one
and was left behind on German base after it had an accident. That is were he collected it.
He had no pictures from the time before the a/c was repainted.

Otger
