Yeah, got some.

Here's G91T 1802, the other one flying at Cambrai on 15jun86. The third one, 5448, was in the static.
Image

The 1987 Montijo open day saw half a dozen Ginas airborne.
Image

Star of that lot was undoubtedly the Tiger of Esq 301: 5465

Two more of this airshow annex Tiger Meet: 5441 landing...

... and 1807 parked remotely.
Image

Finally, two of these highly manoeuvrable jets in overhaul at Alverca, 29jun87.

5427, still in German colours.

And 5464 that was treated with paint remover by someone without any protective clothing as we watched. I suppose methods have changed since then!

Yeah... and we walked in that stuff with our normal summershoes...
I just tried to get my old slidescanner to work again so I can attribute to these threads, but it seems the thing died on me. Windows will recognise the scanner but it stays "unavailable" even though the right drivers are installed... but that is off-topic

Thanks all!!! I like to remember those years. Great shots from Montijo, I was there too with a trip organised by Scramble, we stood there just a few meters from the runway..... the show was one of the best ever!!!
The exact number of G.91's that took off in the air was 8 and they flew extremely low over the Taag river and made some attack manouevres over the base. What about that base attack by 18 A-7P's ......

Yeah..... those days are over

Indeed Roel, we are the Dino's among the spotters (haha)...

Cheers.

Looks like we were all on the same trip, I like that idea. Indeed a show that will rank high forever - due partly to where we were allowed to be! Greetingsenzo, ;)

I think so.... we stayed in Hotel downtown Lisbon and had a good time, Scramble organised also a visit to Sintra AB and Alverca, wow!!!
If I am correct, we all from the group received a red Scramble cap for sun protection (and to be recognised) at Montijo, standing almost on the main runway....... 8) Great days I spent there.

How I miss having my house being buzzed by the G.91s from Squadron 301 "Jaguars". Those were the days! :(

I remember that Tiger Meet well, it was the first airshow I ever attended (I was 10 years old in 1987). I lived, and still live, in Almada - roughly 7 miles from Montijo AB - and recall all those afternoons I spent at my window seeing the Mirages, F-16s, Starfighters, F-4s, F-111s, etc. One morning, while having breakfast, a couple of F-15Cs belonging to the 36th TFW flew low and slow over my building, landing gear down and close enough to see one of the Eagle drivers waving at me. Those were definitely the days! 8)
