What a shame about the RIAT. All those poor people who put so much time, energy, effort and money into either organizing or attending the greatest show on earth, I feel very sorry for them all.
On this occasion however there was nothing to be done and anyone who watched the various photo's and films on Youtube or the BBC news page will surely agree.
This whole bad situation made me think of the times that I took pictures in less than favourable conditions. Here are some of those shots of mine and come on, join in and show us your moodiest and most atmospheric pictures!
1.
Mildenhall, 26-05-2006 On the well known campsite the few people who were there stayed in their caravans or motorhomes. Being the wise guy that I am, I had come in a small tent so I already was wet and took this atmospheric shot.

Florennes, 01-06-2006 A TLP base visit! Unfortunately it started to rain the moment we left the bus on the platform and it went from bad to worse so eveybody fled into the big hangar. When the aircraft were started up for the mission however I decided to go to the runway because I hadn't travelled all the way to stand in a hangar. It cost me pair of shoes...
3.
Nordholz, 27-08-2006 This was one of the worst! The morning started of with glorious sunshine and I was only wearing jeans and a shirt! When the Atlantics and P-3 returned it was pouring with rain. I stayed out to take this picture but shortly thereafter thunder and lightning joined in and we all had to run for the nearest hangars.
4.
Schiphol, 25-11-2006 The nice thing about Schiphol is that you can leave your car at the last possible moment, take your shot and jump back in again, thus preventing too much damage to life, limb and equipment. A point in favour for photographing civil aircraft?
5.
Meiringen, 23-03-2007 Hard to believe that the day before we were taking pictures in the sun. On the first of the open days it was dark, cold and gloomy. As the day wore on it became colder and started to snow. Well, I imagine that the Swiss crews have encountered worse...

Spangdahlem, 11-05-2007 Finally a visit to this wonderful base! But alas, again at times atrocious weather conditions. When I took this picture all the sensible people in our group were in the bus. Not me, I was in the rain but not singing. The busdriver didn't look very happy when I entered his vehicle afterwards in a sodden state!

Weston-Super-Mare, 26-07-2007, A seafront airshow in very British weather conditions. This shot was taken with the camera in one hand and the umbrella in the other. I was only just in time because seconds after this picture Red Leader announced that the show was over because most of the time the pilots lost sight of each other.
