Offutt airshow 16-17 aug 2008

Post by Tomcat01 »

This was a nice airshow, sun wil in your back from 11.00 till sunset. Static show was nice (u2, b52, ea6 etc) but typical american with no real barriers, just some cones and rope, and people in front. Security was pretty tight, so you had to come in early because of the long lines at the entrypoints. Flying display was pretty standard.
Here are some of my shots, hope you enjoy them.

I'm not a huge fan of us airshows because of bad staticshows and limited airdisplays, but there is one thing they do the best. That's creating photoopertunities with legacyflights and photopasses. The planes come from behind the crowd performing a nice bank.
Here are some shots of these fine moments.

Hi Hans,

Nice shots!

Did you get any of the F-18's too? We managed to almost fully log the airshow, apart from the flightline, and we left around noon so didn't see most of it fly.

Thanks, super stuff! Seems like it was yet worth the hassle of getting al your gear through the security checkpoint ;-)

For the sake of completeness, do you also have the numbers of both F-15's on the flightline for me? Haven't got my notes with me right now so I'm not sure if 82-021 that flew is the one we couldn't read off on the ground...

By the way: Moose Jaw airshow was muuuuuuch smaller :-|

Yeah....pretty standard . Always that damn P-40, A-10, F-15 flyby, it´s indeed getting boring.

Marco,

The f15 was indeed 82-021/EG 58 FS, the other one did not fly and was parked out of sight, so no serial on that one.

Mooi hoor,

Ik heb een mailtje gestuurd naar de PA van 33FW over die tweede F-15, wie weet komen ze nog wel met een bruikbaar antwoord...

Peter,

American airshows can be very interesting especial if you have never been there and you can see a lot of new types and units. As i already mentioned before the photoopertunities are better than in Europe because of the photopasses that are not allowed/done overhere. If you compare the variaty and number of aircraft participating in the flying display than Europe is lot better (if you have to watch engine testrunning by the TB,s for half an hour i don't get really excited), so are most of the staticshows. Offutt was in my opinion one of the better u.s.shows. The best i have seen over there is Oceana.
Here are some leftovers
