Manchester 20-08-08 (a bit large)

Post by Marco »

after recovering a bit of my Kecskemet/Vienna days, I flew for 1 day to Manchester by VLM from Rotterdam. When booking in advance, it looks like you are flying for low cost rates with a full service airline.

On our way to Manchester the Fokker carried 9 pax, on our way back 20. The main purpose of my trip was to see First Choice, as they have been merged with Thomsonfly with the new name Thomsonair. So I decided to go for just 1 day to see them operating from over there before it was too late.

The weather was better then forecasted. It was forecasted to rain, but it was cloudy and dry (with exception of some drizzling for 30mins). I even got 1 hr sun.

Below are the results. I have made a best possible selection, but still too much in my eyes.

@Nustyr, thanks for the compliments. My personal favorite of the day is the EK 777

I stayed at the viewing park. At first I was planning to go to the approach nearby the famous pub. However upon arrival I saw so much interesting planes parked I decided to go the viewing park. Just stay on the middle hill for the best pics. To get there, during week days take bus 12 from platform K. This is the only bus driving into this area during week days. It leaves once an hour at 25 minutes passed the hour. I spend approx 45 minutes at the bus station trying to find the correct bus. Everytime I got directed to the bus supervisor office. Unfortunately it was unmanned for approx 40 minutes, and when somebody was there, he did not know to take which bus :?

The bad thing was that they closed the 2nd high speed exit. This caused that the planes had to take the 3rd slow speed exit. The good thing was that they also closed the taxiway along the runway from the end till the 3rd exit. At 1 moment there were 3 planes backtracking the runway at the same time.

each picture get in its file name [airline] [type] [number] [where] [when]

I do not like to keep over hundreds of pics of 1 plane. I keep only the best 3-4 pics. So by giving them a new file name, you can look for the best pic during the day (arrival, departure, arrival, departure, etc). Is a bit of work, but so far it works out great for the passed 5 years.

When uploading them then, they are sorted by the file name which makes them in alfabetical order on the Scramble.
