Civiel pictures Sydney 27-03-2008 (a lot of pics)

Post by Dutchman »

Hey all,

Because I finished my study in januari, decided to make a long trip for 2,5 months to Australia together with a friend. During those 2,5 months we made a roundtrip, we saw all highlights in Australia and it was really amazing. During those 2,5 months we spend 10 days of our time in Sydney. At the beginning of our trip the 27th March I spend one day at the specatorsterrace at the international terminal.

Here a small selection of a day spotting at Sydney International Airport.

Image
UPS operates a daily cargoflight to Sydney.

Image
BA 016 to Singapore and London LHR.

The daily Royal Brunei flight to Bandar.

Image
One of the two daily A333 flights of Cathay Pacific to Hongkong.

Image
One a of the many Virgin Blue B737-800's I saw that day.

Image
5 mins after the UPS arrival this Fedex MD-11F arrived.

Image
Jetstar operates a lot of flights from Sydney operating international flights with A332's and domestic flights with A322's.

Image
Probably the highlight that day was this Air Vanuatu B738. Amazing colours and very rare for me ass well.

Image
One of the many QF 763's I saw that day. Almost all QF 763 fly domestic flights, so during the say I saw many QF 763's multiple times. Probably operating short runs like Sydney-Melbourne-Sydney and Sydney-Canberra-Sydney.

One of the few QF B734's with ZK- registration operating flights from Australia to New Zealand.

Unfortunally today just a normal B747 and not an Airbus A380....

Nice to catch this Thai B747 in great afternoonlight.

The daily Virgin Atlantic A346 flight (VS200) to Hongkong and London LHR.

What can I say about spotting in Sydney. I didn't visit the famous beach spot because I didn't have a car and it's not possible to get there without a car. The obeservationdeck can be reached via the international departurehall. It's next to an restaurant. It's quite small and not the best place to take pictures. You can take nice pictures from 14.00 till sunset, before that time the sun is not is a great position to take nice pictures.
If you are a registration spotter then this is the best spot. You can see most of the traffic departing and arriving from the domestic and international terminal.

For me as a photographer I was more interested in taking nice pictures and taking pictures of rare aircraft, airlines. I must say Sydney is quite boring. Not much variation in traffic. Most of the international flights of the international carriers arrive in the early morning and leave in the afternoon. During the day you see loads of Qantas (most of the time 763's and 738, 734's) Virgin Blue (B738 and B73G's) and Jetstar (A332 and A322's). Sometimes during the day you see some interesting planes, but most of the time it's always the same traffic...

I didn't see the SQ A380 that day unfortunally.

Tomorrow I will post pictures of my second day spotting in Sydney on the 22st May.

Hope you enjoyed the pictures and story. For now enjoy the first part;-)

Gr,

Dimitri
