There have been speculations in Norwegian media that German airline Lufthansa is interested in acquiring Scandinavian airline SAS, and SAS confirms that it is evaluating structural changes.
However, SAS does not reveal with whom they are negotiating, and have instead issued a short press release:
- Regarding today's speculations in the media SAS confirms that it is in the process of evaluating various structural possibilities for the Group. Within this process SAS is conducting talks about a possible structural solution.
- It must be emphasized that no decision has been taken, the press release states.
Minister of Industry and Trade Sylvia Brustad says the government is aware that SAS is evaluating proffitability through new ownership.
Norway owns 14.3 per cent of the SAS shares, Sweden 21.4 and Denmark 14.3 per cent.
The rumours led to a suspension of the shares at the Oslo Stock Exchange. By then the share value had risen by 10 per cent.
