Not all the F3's were returned to the RAF. There's one preserved in the Vigne di Vale museum.aviodromefriend wrote:At the picture in the first post the fin looks somewhat out of proportions to me, at least for an Air Defense Variant, which this is meant to be, given the shape of the fin (and which was only operated under a lease from the RAF in Italy, all aircraft having returned to the UK after the lease ended).
So, my guess: it's a fake machine.
The film both featured Tornado's AND Starfighters The plot sucked, so did the air-to-air footage, but the real filmed stuff was great!frank kramer wrote:Two observations:
1. The Tornado has AT LEAST a fake canopy, but judging from the pictures the overall shape is OK so it MIGHT be real
2. Wasn't Blue Tornado about Starfighters? Or was there also an earlier film with Dirk Benedict that was about Starfighters (Blue Starfighter?) and was Blue Tornado the sequel? Anyway, at one time I saw the Starfighter film on TV. Totally senseless D-category movie with some nice flying sequences, but sometimes "speeded up" so the end result looked ridiculous.
