Enjoy it - I'm envious!

I'm just back from Switzerland (the Sion base open days) and the weather was lovely :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

No sign of snow on the mountain tops yet but there's still time! Enjoy the show.

WOW  That's quite a change in the weather. The pictures 24hours before show green fields!

All you have to hope now is that it STOPS snowing before the event.

Would the event be cancelled if there is snow on the ground? I can well .understand that it would be if it was still snowing

I doubt it very much - unless there was an obvious public safety issue. Snow is part of the Swiss way of life. :D It's only here in the UK that everything grinds to a halt with 1cm of snow!

In Switzerland, throughout all the winter, most of the public footpaths are kept clear of snow for hillwalkers. 8) Unless the snow is particualrly heavy or visibility is affected, I think you can safely assume that life goes on as normal. :D

Well i'm at the village "Axalp" at the moment.. At the moment it has stopped snowing.. but looking behind our chalet.. it brings not too much hope of good weather :(
it keeps snowing from time to time. Luckily, the road is driveable downwards.

Last monday it was 50 degrees in the sun.. now it's 0 degrees. Talk about weather changing fast ;)

About the visability.. hope it clears up! Clouds passing Axalp at ground level..

Hi!

@ Grimmi: Well, a 5 step would be a bit to much, lol. I took a two step Altrex up the Tschingel once because of all the people there. It wasn't really nessesary so you won't see me doing that again any time soon ;-)

And @ all, let's hope for good weather, sunny and dry so we can enjoy the snow as we like it there! I will only be there on monday and tuesday, due to surcomstances. But it's could be the best day's!

Have fun, and walk/hike safely!!

Greetings,
René

Tuesday 7-10:

Meiringen:

in the morning we had some mist but it cleared up around 10.30. In the afternoon blue skies sunny and warm.

The Axalp range was clear until late afternoon.

In the village "Axalp":

at the moment 17.45 local time there is a cloud overcast (broken) 16 degrees celcius and hardly any wind.

They expect cloudy weather for tomorrow with chance on some showers.

The show have been cancelled today due to bad weather. There was 1 big cloud hanging over the mountains which kind of stayed there all morning and early afternoon.

Hopefully the weather will clear up for tomorrow.....
