A week not at work, heading for a trip with some good friends, very nice backgrounds, and a lot of flying.... that sums up our trip to Switzerland from 28/9 - 3/10...
Sion
Mondaymorning, they were putting the Hunter back on the poles after maintenance......
Early scramble, they would do that several times, creating great photo opportunities as they took off from the other runway side..
The well known Tiger J-5011 came in, now in its natural habitat instead of somewhere abroad......
Thwo early birds, the F-5 often fly 4 waves....
Always a lot of support planes around a Wiederholungskurs, the first of many liaison aircraft was this PC-6
Also many helo's, every day we saw at least one Super Puma/Cougars and/or Alouettes...
Many great spots for taking pics at Sion, including this one...
..and along the main taxiway...
..where, depending on the take-off angle, one can make great flying shots too...
as well as taxiing ofcourse ..
Just for fun, another tak-off shot...
One of the cool things about the Swis AF if you ask me; the dayglo stuff they put on their Tigers...
Another great vantage point; the end of the runway, although many F-5's leave the runway one exit earlier...
Does this pilot have the "JP Airline Fleets" with him?!
Back near the tower, the next Cougar, with Sion Castle in the background..
Alpnach
As distances are not too excessive between all Swiss bases we decided to go to Alpnach as well Not a lot of flying going on there, nevertheless a nice shot of this AlouetteIII
Emmen
One of the trip-targets were the newly delivererd PC-21's. We were lucky, four of them flew during our stay at Emmen.
A "first' for me, Drones were flying in close formation with an Alouette II. Never saw a dronde being launched before...
Payerne
On the first and last day of the trip we went to payerne. Great weather and good flying...
On monday the PC-7 team filled the flightline, arriving from Sion's open days..
This PC-7 took off from the taxiway.....
..and an NPC-7 as they are designated once they have gotten a new cockpit and a fresh coat of paint.....
Here to many small ransports. This PC-6 stopped by for only ten minutes or zo...
The F-5's we doing gunnery practice on the nearby lake, great sounds and sights!!
Always nice to see an F-5F. The first ones have already been withdrawn from use, so theye becoming rare birds....
One of three back-up F-5E's in Patrouille Suise colors, yet they don't show the PS titles....
Another goal achieved! We really wanted to get some good shots of the new EC-635s, and luckily we managed, thanks to a pilot who hovered in front of us for a couple of minutes.. Thanks mate!
The J-5026 still has its Martian/flying saucer-zap...
Last pic we took was this Hunter, it belongs to the museum but for some reason it was parked outside....
All in all a great, typically Swiss trip!
