Key, I DID keep the main part in English, the Papiamentu part was just for fun :-)

c 130 Curacao

Post by FALCONCREST »

Very, very nice shots!!!

But this C130. If I look close I noticed a couple of aerials and domes on the door and main wheels-door.
Is this a standard configuration ?

Curious...

What a quality post. Crisp photogaphs, good angles and interesting aircraft - Real Nice.
I have to admit that I know nothing about Curacao - How the spotting possibilties there? I assume you were airside for your snaps?

Wow great pictures, very cool!!!!

I was at Curacao from 5 october till 31 december 1997. Saw only Dutch Orions and Lynx helo's and once a Canadian Sea King in the harbor on the HMCS Halifax.

You have seen some awesome stuff. (and you photographed it excellent).

Thanks for the comments!

all shots were taken landside, from various spots around the airfield. The sea borders the north side of the runway, so the sun is in your back during most of the day. You just move around the airfield a bit.

See the Where to go section on this page for a map of the airfield and the spots, but do not expect aircraft in great numbers, patience is the keyword here.

The fun I understand, that's why I say 'the main part'. The rest of your message is in Dutch.

It is a system in use by 193rd SOS. The system consist out of a red container as cargo and some antennas at the wheeldoor and the last. In fact the system is mostly used at the C-130E's of this unit (in the past when I was at Curacao this were 63-7815 and 7816), and make the C-130 a Combat Solo. While I was at Curacao, I have had some problmes with the US security officer (he looked like a tourist but the owner of the car rental company recognised him as the Chief Security Officer) present as I was looking the conversion of a borrowed Dyess Herc with this system.
