Goodmeurnin',
Finally I've been able to get my old slidescanner to work. however on a laptop with Win98...
So here are a few pictures of Schiphol and Rotterdam in 1984 and 1985.
01 B747-206B N1295E "Ganges" of KLM sitting at the D-pier (which was at that time the newest) on 7 january 1984.
02 DC-8-55F EC-DBE of Aviaco in the take-off from runway-24 on 7 january 1984. This used to be PH-MAS of Martinair.
In the background are a V.953 Merchantman of Air Bridge and a B707F of TMA Libanon.
03 DDR-SDL, a Tupolev-134A of Interflug on the apron of Rotterdam on 3 july 1984.
The (few) passengers were picked up with cars with Corps Diplomatique markings.
04 In 1985 te A310 was still new in the KLM-fleet.
This is the first, PH-AGA "Rembrandt" during landing on runway-06 of Schiphol on 5 january 1985.
05 PH-BUG, a B747-206B named "Orinoco", using reverse thrust after landing on 06 on 5 january 1985.
06 When I'm correct 1985 was the last year KLM flew the DC-8. This is DC-8-63 PH-DEE "Abel Tasman" on 5 january 1985. Even then those yellow-red signs tried to get in the way...
07 PH-DNK "Copenhagen", a DC-9-32 of KLM, seen on 5 january 1985.
08 PH-DTD "Maurice Ravel", a DC-10-30 of KLM at the D-pier on 5 january 1985.
09 The predecessor of the goverment aircraft of today (Fokker-70 PH-KBX) was this Fokker F.28-1000 Fellowship PH-PBX.
10 In those days one could easily be bored with the BAC One-Elevens of British Airways and BCal.
This is G-AWYS "Isle of Bute", a 111-501EX of British Caledonian on 5 january 1985.
11 Swissair still existed and they used to fly fo and from Schiphol with the DC-9, in this case HB-IFU "Chur", an DC-9-32.
In the background El-Al Cargo B747 (4X-AXD) and DC-8-55F TR-LVK of Affretair.
12 And this is JA8106, an B747-246B of Japan Air Lines on 5 january '85.
13 PK-GSF "City of Denpasar", a B747-2U3B of Garuda.
14 PP-VMB, a DC-10-30 of VARIG.
15 SX-CBA "Mount Olympos", the first B727-284 of Olympic.
16 YU-AHM "Tivat", a DC-9-32 of JAT with extra "Official Olympic Carrier"-titles.
17 YV-137C, a DC-10-30 of VIASA on 5 january 1985 at Schiphol.
18 And finally a picture made on 16 may 1985, when Air Holland had just started flying with two B727's. This is PH-AHD, a B727-2H3, so it's an ex Tunisair example.
In the background a Transavia B737-2K2 (behind the nose) and DC-8-55F TR-LVK of Affretair.
That's all for now. I guess I might get around to a few sessions of slidescanning this winter
Greetingsenzo,
Bert.
