Hi

one of several JAL cargo-charters this week, but the only one with interesting equipment;

0610-0840 JL 74F JA8171 (B747-200F)

Your last chance to see the JL -200F in Europe, this frame is the last one in active service and will be retired soon!

Beetje off topic misschien, maar vroeg mij ook af of deze kist helemaal afgeladen is met wijn ? en derde donderdag van november zegt mij ook niet zoveel. :)

Oke. Een beetje offtopic (excuses Marco/Erik) , maar een kleine uitleg is op zijn plaats merk ik. Elk jaar worden op de derde donderdag van november de eerste nieuwe wijnen van dat jaar verkocht in de Nederlandse (en buitenlandse) supermarkten en slijterijen. Das de eerste wijn die in dat jaar geoogst en gebotteld is. Deze wijnen zijn beter bekend als de "(Beaujolais )Primeur wijnen" DIt jaar kan je in de winkels vanaf 20-11 terecht voor de eerste Beaujolais, Rhone, Ventoux etc. wijnen met als wijnjaar "2008" op het etiket. Dit brengt de nodige (extra) vraag met zich mee, menig famillie, vereniging of bedrijf organiseert rond die datum een primeur avondje, waar de primeur wijn geproeft en gedronken wordt met een hapje erbij. Winkels verkopen in die week en de week erna tot wel 400% meer wijn dan in een normale week. Overigens wordt de populariteit van deze wijnen elk jaar een stukje minder. Maar je zult begrijpen dat deze wijn wel op plaats van bestemming moet komen, en vandaar de extra "beaujolais charters" rond deze periode....

nice off course, but Why via AMS? Noord-Holland isnt exaxtly reknown for its vinyards. :roll:

1) Because current operators of cargo aircraft already serve AMS and can accomodate the Beaujolais on their current scheduled services
2) Because these current operators have an office at AMS, they can easily handle the cargo charter flights (e.g. NCA, JAL)
3) Because AMS can provide slots quite easy at the moment

Trucking by road from e.g. CDG to AMS only takes up to 8 hours usually, and can be done overnight. Beaujolais cargo departs (on paper) from France, but the first leg of the journey may be by truck.
